Sobre mim

I am a French-born Professional who has been living in the United States for over nine years. In addition to working with French, English, and Portuguese fluently, I also possess a strong command of Spanish as well.
After changing my Master in Communication to English Literature, I became a freelance translator and interpreter.
I believe that growing up in a bilingual environment and studying the theories of Communication and Literature help me in my work, since I am able to not only translate the words accurately, but also the context of the document.

QUALIFICATIONS
I have been working on an almost daily-basis with a British agency (ProZ member) for the past four years and I have been able to translate a wide range of projects in several fields, with sometimes a very short deadline, which has sharpened my translation skills and my ability to manage new projects.

Some of my most recent completed projects include:
- Legal documents;
- Repertory and brochure for the British Red Cross;
- Transcript and translation of four reels of interviews for a documentary in the making;
- Technical manuals and brochures;
- Business presentations;
- Websites;
- News articles.

OTHER PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
P.C.I. (Presse et Communication de l'Institut) - Paris - 1996
Magazine concerning techniques of analysis and instrumentation for scientific research.
Duties included:
-Advertising manager for "Spectra Analyse".
-Market research in order to set up a new sale strategy.
-Advertisers card index updated and telephone follow-up.
-Weekly report concerning the turnover.
-In permanent touch with the editorial staff.
-Collaboration with the editor for the paste-up.
-Relations with the suppliers and with French and international advertising agencies.
-Forecast with the board of directors of the 97 advertising budget followed by the realization of the rates leaflet.
Skills used:
-Advertising space sales and Public Relations in an environment that demanded both oral and written translation skills.
-Market research.
-Completed projects with tight deadlines.

CarnaudMetalBox - Paris - From January to March 1996
Marketing and Communication for an international packaging company.
Duties included:
-Assistant for the organization of the INTERPAK 96 Exhibition (Dusseldorf - Germany).
-In charge of the management of the annual catalogue of the CMB promotional objects.
-Realization of the "Worldwide Locations Booklet 1996" (directory of all factories and branches).
-Monthly press revue intended for the board of directors.
Skills used:
Public relations and marketing in a multilingual environment (mainly French and English).
French and English skills used on a daily basis, with an emphasis on written translations of documents.

Agence SDL - Paris - 1994-1995.
Press and Public Relations for an agency specializing in wines and gastronomy.
Duties included:
-Organization of events, especially wine-tasting sessions for journalists and food and wine professionals.
-Meetings with journalists.
-Realization of press releases, press revues and booklets.
-In charge of the relations with the agency suppliers and of the clients invoicing.
Skills used:
Press and Public Relations, including writing of press releases, continuous contact with clients and journalists, and organization of a 5000 guests event.
