I have been an English > Portuguese freelance translator for the last 25 years. I started translating during my graduation in Electronic Engineering, and since then I have translated more than 10 million words.
I am able to translate around 15,000 - 20,000 words a week, and to edit/proofread around 40,000 words a week.
My equipment is a Core 2 Duo 1.8GHz, with 320.0GB of hard disk, 2 GB of RAM and a cable modem. The software I normally use is MS Office XP, Windows Vista, Microsoft Internet Explorer 7, PageMaker 7, Quark X-Press 5.0, Adobe Acrobat 7, OmniPage Pro 12.0, etc.
About CAT tools, I use SDL TRADOS 2007 and DejaVu 3 or DejaVu X for almost all translation jobs performed. I also own and use Transit Satellite less frequently.
