What is the difference between ETFs and mutual funds or stocks?
ETFs combine the popular features of both. Like a mutual fund, an ETF is a collection of stocks or bonds. And like a stock, you can buy and sell an ETF throughout the day on the stock market.
What are the benefits of ETFs?
Similar to mutual funds, ETFs are diversified mixes of stocks or bonds that are managed by experienced professionals. ETFs typically offer a few extra perks, including lower fees and increased price transparency throughout the day, so you always know what your investment is worth.
On average, ETFs cost one-fifth the price of a mutual fund. The savings an investor can achieve from lower fees can be significant over time.
ETFs make it easy to invest in a wide array of markets, whether broad like the S&P TSX, in niche sectors, or targeted to a specific goal.

Source text - English It is more than two weeks since the Federal Reserve raised interest rates for the first time in over nine years, and the world has not (yet) ended. But it is too soon to celebrate. Several central banks have tried to lift rates in recent years after long spells near zero, only to be forced to reverse course and cut them again (see chart).
The outcome of America’s rate rise, whatever it may be, will help economists understand why zero exerts such a powerful gravitational pull.
Recessions strike when too many people wish to save and too few to spend. Central banks try to escape the doldrums by slashing interest rates, encouraging people to loosen their grip on their money. It is hard to lower rates much below zero, however, since people and businesses would begin to swap bank deposits for cash or other assets. So during a really nasty shock, economists agree, rates cannot go low enough to revive demand.
There is significant disagreement, however, on why economies become stuck in this quagmire for long periods. There are three main explanations. The Fed maintains that the problem stems from central-bank paralysis, either self-induced or politically imposed. That prevents the use of unconventional monetary policies such as quantitative easing - the printing of money to buy bonds. The intention of QE is to buy enough long-dated debt to lower long-term borrowing rates, thereby getting around the interest-rate floor. Once QE has generated a speedy enough recovery, senior officials at the Fed argue, there is no reason not to raise rates as in normal times.
If the Fed is right, 2016 will be a rosy year for the American economy. The central bank expects growth to accelerate and unemployment to keep falling even as it lifts rates to 1.5% or so by the end of the year. Yet markets reckon that is wildly optimistic, and that rates will remain below 1%. That is where the other two explanations come in.
The first is the “liquidity trap”, an idea which dates back to the 1930s and was dusted off when Japan sank into deflation in the late 1990s. Its proponents argue that central banks are very nearly helpless once rates drop to zero. Not even QE is much use, since banks are not short of money to lend, but of sound borrowers to lend to.
Advocates of this theory see only two routes out of the trap. The government can soak up excess savings by borrowing heavily itself and then spending to boost demand. Or the central bank can promise to tolerate much higher inflation when, in the distant future, the economy returns to health. The promise of higher-than-normal inflation in future, if believed, reduces the real, or inflation-adjusted, interest rate in the present, since money used to repay loans will be worth less than the money borrowed. Expectations of higher future inflation therefore provide the stuck economy with the sub-zero interest rates needed to escape the rut.

A firm's corporate culture determines the behavior of its directors and employees. So, what is corporate culture? It's the way we do things around here. It's the organization's identity, the collective norms, the shared values and visions.
The risk culture is the level of risk a business allows, accepts or expects. High-risk cultures tend towards poor ethical outcomes. So, a risk culture is a common understanding and awareness of what ethical risk is -- the risk consciousness -- and a common and shared understanding of where ethical risk occurs and how to manage it. And it is risk culture that ultimately drives the ethical behaviors of all staff. What impacts a risk culture is the standards expected of behavior set out from the top; the quality, the competence and integrity of staff; and the delegation of personal responsibility vs. micromanagement; the extent of change in the organization; and the effectiveness of the control environment.
And, lastly, reward practices.
Too much reliance on bonuses and rewards for risk taking, with no impact for poor risk behavior, leads to poorer ethical performance.
Poor corporate culture is driven by senior management, where they encourage individuals to take risks which, normally, they would not do so, and it engenders excessive corporate risk. Poor actions by single individuals can result in great cost to the firm, both financially and through loss of reputation.
On the other hand, good corporate culture fosters an environment of trust, integrity and professionalism, and leads to greater confidence and, ultimately, a strengthening of the firm's reputation in the market. Therefore, the firm will continue to grow strongly.
So, personal responsibility. It's about ethics. It's about doing the right thing. Ethical behavior requires firms to act in ways that stakeholders within and outside of the firm consider to be both fair and honest.
Managers and employees making decisions should take into account the impact -- "Who does my decision affect now or in the future?" -- and fairness -- "Will my decision be considered fair by those affected now and in retrospect?" -- of their decisions.

In termini semplici, è il modo in cui si fanno le cose in una determinata realtà societaria. È l'identità dell'organizzazione, l'insieme di norme collettive adottate e di valori e visioni condivise.

Un eccessivo ricorso a bonus e ricompense per l'assunzione di rischi, senza alcuna disposizione che disincentivi le pratiche indesiderate, porta a una peggiore performance etica.
Una cultura aziendale scadente è in genere responsabilità della dirigenza, che incoraggia il personale ad assumere rischi che in condizioni normali eviterebbe, e porta tipicamente a un rischio aziendale eccessivo. I comportamenti poco accorti di singoli individui possono comportare costi rilevanti per l'impresa, sia in termini finanziari che reputazionali.
Una buona cultura aziendale, di contro, favorisce la costituzione di un ambiente lavorativo fondato su fiducia, integrità e professionalità, porta a una maggiore sicurezza e, infine, rende più solida la reputazione dell'impresa sul mercato (la quale avrà dunque maggiori opportunità di crescita).
Dunque, la responsabilità personale. Siamo nell'ambito dell’etica, del fare la cosa giusta. L'etica richiede che l'impresa adotti comportamenti coerenti con i principi di correttezza e onestà dei suoi stakeholder, sia interni che esterni.
