Foi realizado, através de serviço terceirizado, o levantamento planialtimétrico da pilha e da área ao redor desta. O levantamento foi executado em campo utilizando topografia convencional, estação total, onde foram coletados um total de 1111 pontos em uma área de 2,35 hectares.
O levantamento foi recebido em formato DWG contendo pontos levantados, curvas de nível e feições planimétricas como muro/edificações, poste de alta tensão, cerca, canal/riacho e bordos de estradas (Figura 2.1_1 e 2.1_2). A projeção utilizada para confecção deste levantamento foi UTM - Zona 24 Sul, datum: WGS84, sendo necessária sua re-projeção para utilização neste projeto. Para tal, foi utilizado o datum SAD69 - IBGE. As curvas de nível e os pontos levantados foram convertidos para o formato shapefile.
Translation - English 2.1 Topography
Outsourced topography services accomplished planialtimetric survey of the pile and its surrounding area. The survey was performed in field using conventional surveying, total station, in which 1111 points were gathered in an area of 2.35 hectares.
The survey was received in DWG format containing the points surveyed, contours lines and planimetric features such as walls/buildings, high voltage poles, fence, channel/creek and road edges (Figure 2.1_1 and 2.1_2). The projection used for this survey was UTM - Zone 24 South, Datum: WGS84, being necessary its re-projection for the use in this project. For this purpose, it was used datum SAD69 - IBGE. The contours and the points raised were converted to shapefile format.

O trabalho de campo incluiu viagens mensais, com duração média de dez dias, no período entre Janeiro de 2006 e Outubro de 2007. Foi dada ênfase no processo de convivência e observação participante plena, com registro em diário de campo e gravação previamente autorizada dos dados das entrevistas. A amostragem e seleção dos informantes foram realizadas segundo a técnica Bola de neve (Bailey, 1994) com 13 informantes-chave locais, além de 27 generalistas membros da comunidade em geral que fazem algum uso dos recursos vegetais da região (Albuquerque & Lucena, 2004). O tamanho da amostra de todos os entrevistados foi definido com ajuda da curva do coletor, adaptada para trabalhos em etnobotânica (Borba & Macedo, 2006).
O trabalho foi realizado de acordo com a metodologia adaptada das práticas de campo sugeridas por Albuquerque & Lucena (2004). Foram realizadas entrevistas semi-estruturadas e informais, a técnica da listagem livre e a turnê-guiada para observação direta em caminhadas livres, coleta e verificação in situ do material botânico. As principais plantas da categoria de uso artesanal foram analisadas segundo a técnica de ranqueamento para estudo de preferências locais. O tamanho da amostra foi definido com o registro do número de plantas citadas por informante e a verificação do número de etnoespécies inéditas indicadas.
A coleta de material botânico foi realizada sob licença do IBAMA (coleta de material e acesso ao patrimônio cultural/ registro: 11307-1). A coleta e herborização dos exemplares coletados foram realizadas de acordo com as recomendações de Fidalgo & Bononi (1989). A identificação das espécies botânicas procedeu através de bibliografia especifíca e/ou comparações em herbários. Na ordenação das famílias seguiu-se os sistemas APG II (2003) para angiospermas e Smith et al. (2006) para as pteridófitas. O depósito das exsicatas foi realizado no Herbário da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (RFA).
As plantas identificadas ao nível específico foram classificadas entre nativas e exóticas utilizando pesquisa bibliográfica e consulta ao Missouri Botanical Garden (Mobot, 2007). Os vegetais foram analisados quanto ao hábito e a parte utilizada, conforme Borba & Macedo (2006) e Fonseca-Kruel & Peixoto (2004).
As categorias de uso dos recursos vegetais basearam-se em diferentes trabalhos de etnobotânica (Albuquerque & Andrade, 2002; Fonseca-Kruel & Peixoto, 2004; Shanley & Rosa, 2005; Vendruscolo & Mentz, 2006).
Translation - English Ethnobotanical Survey
The field research included monthly trips, during ten days on average, covering the period between January 2006 and October 2007. The process of sociability and full participant observation was emphasized, registering data on field diary and previously authorized recordings of the interviews. The sampling and selection of the research respondents were made according to the Snow Ball technique (Bailey, 1994) having 13 local key-informants, plus 27 generalists, members from the community in general that make some use of the vegetable resources in the region (Albuquerque & Lucena, 2004). The sampling scale for each respondent was defined with the help of the collector´s curve, adapted to ethnobotanical works (Borba & Macedo, 2006).
The work was accomplished according to the adapted methodology of field practices suggested by Albuquerque & Lucena (2004). Semi-structured and informal interviews were performed, using the technique of free listing and the guided-tour for direct observation in free walks, and in situ collection and verification of the botanical material. The main plants used in the handicraft category were analyzed following the ranking technique in order to study local preferences. The scale of the sample was defined according to the registered number of plants mentioned by each respondent and the verification of the number of unprecedented ethnospecies indicated.
The gathering of the botanical material was performed with the due licensing from IBAMA (collection of material and cultural heritage access/ registration 11307-1). The collection and herborization of the specimens gathered were performed according to Fidalgo & Bononi (1989) recommendations. The identification of the botanical species was made by means of specific bibliography and/or comparisons in herbariums. For ordering the families, the APG II system (2003) was followed when dealing with angiosperms and Smith et al. (2006) when dealing with pteridophytes. The deposit of exsiccates was done at Rio de Janeiro´s Federal University Herbarium (RFA).
The plants identified at a specific level were classified as native or exotic using bibliographical research and consulting the Missouri Botanical Garden (Mobot, 2007). The plants were analyzed according to habit and the part used, following Borba & Macedo (2006) and Fonseca-Kruel & Peixoto (2004).
The plant resources categories of use were based on various ethnobotanical works (Albuquerque & Andrade, 2002; Fonseca-Kruel & Peixoto, 2004; Shanley & Rosa, 2005; Vendruscolo & Mentz, 2006).
I am Bárbara, I was born and raised in Brazil and had a one-year experience as an exchange student in the United States (1999). I had always been keen on the subjects related to language and humanities.
In 2003, I´ve started translating professionally, working with 'hard-science' subjects such as mining and geology (surprisingly loving it), while studying in the Arts and Social Communication Institute of UFF Federal University. Such background surely provided me with a multiple perspective which definitely had been useful from then on, both to my career and to my academic performance.
I received my Bachelor´s degree in 2006 with majors in Journalism and Cinema, and I´ve found that working with translation fulfills my curiosity and creative needs just as much as any other activity I´ve been involved in.
I love to be surprised by my customers demands, specially if it implies a lot of extra work in order to get the right terms. I am very passionate about the words, expressions, forms and arrangements each language provide to their respective cultures, contexts and circumstances.
My longest expertise lies on the fields of mining engineer, geology, environment, and law (corporate) but I´ve also worked on anthropology, theology, and shamanism since 2008, and I eventually venture in fields such as ethnobotany, photography, and gastronomy.
