Portuguese term or phrase: deixou obra
Someone is about to die and leaves a legacy behind (although I don't want to use the word 'legacy' in this case).
How would you put it? 'Left work behind' doesn't sound right and I can't seem to find a proper word for it.

Thanks in advance for your help!
