Richard Purdom: A farmer has a field of pears. He can pay pickers per hour, hour work, he can pay pickers per kilo, piecework, or he can pay someone a fixed (lump) sum to pick the whole lot. That last is an 'empreitada'. It is NOT piecework

Ok, now after a 2nd reading, I see that it's just a heading which calls for more of a general term. I believe you could use "The type of construction contract" and then go on to translate "preço global" as lump-sum contract. Hope this helps.

Mario Freitas: Thank you Matheus! As I said, there is no doubt an "empreitada" is a lump-sum agreement. However, Margarida needs a word to translate "empreitada" out of the contract context. I am positive about "piecework", as this is the term all engineers use.
