Just before I close this, does anyone think it's worth entering this into the KOG? If no one has ever heard of this term in PT, is it worth clogging up an already badly-clogged resource even further?
I'm going to go with Governor Sleeve in my translation (with a small note), based on the fact that this is a large combined cycle plant and that André seemed more certain than Mario and Mario professed not to be an expert. But thank you Mario - I appreciate the help!

Judging from the list below, it doesn't seem to be a very sophisticated part, with a gauge inside, as suggested by André and João. I'd still go with the flow sleeve. But nothing like an expert opinion to be sure (which is not my case).

is perfectly fit as well. If you find out in the context where this sleeve is located, you'll also find the best solution.
1) If the part is located in some discharge/outlet spot, with a measuring instrument, it's a governor sleeve.
2) If it's used to connect two pipelines or two devices with flow of the main media, it's a flow sleeve.
3) Considering the word "argúcia", these still carry a good level of guessing.
4) If you have an engineer nearby, confirm with her/him.

Obrigada everyone. I agree, think that argúcia is some kind of typo or invented word - it only comes up that one time. The fact that it's in the section dealing with steam sealing made me lean a bit towards the governor sleeve proposed by Andre, but this is really not "my beach" so I'm struggling here, and grateful for any input/light.

Sem querer ser intrometido, eu desconfio que essa "argúcia" é uma tradução errada de algum termo equivalente a "precision", "accuracy", "acuity", e ouso supor que essa manga na verdade é um medidor de vazão, ou seja, podemos estar falando de um high accuracy flow meter. Mas meu nível de incerteza é tão grande que não ouso postar esta resposta, apenas colocar à disposição para os comentários dos colegas.

all my chips, I'd bet "argúcias" is a mistake or a word incorrectly translated from another language. There is nothing called "mangas tipo argúcias". The flow sleeves, however, are commonly used in gas turbines.

Thanks for the speedy reply Mario Freitas. It seems perfectly reasonable. I'm just curious as to how the Portuguese came up with this name... argúcias..? Any ideas?
