Portuguese term or phrase: com vida
'Este é de facto um museu com vida.'

There are a lot of different things going on inside the museum. There's always a surprise around the corner. I'm trying to come up with an expression for this. Lively seems too literal.

Thanks in advance for your help!

vibrant / buzzing

Explanation:
Another suggestion, less literal

Example from the web:
"At the Museum of London we tell the story of the world’s greatest city and its people, and it is Londoners who have led the way as both the producers and consumers of broadcast media. Now Radio Times has a significant presence in another sort of living room - that of a vibrant and buzzing museum. I can’t wait for it to open.” - See more at: http://www.museumoflondon.org.uk/corporate/press-media/press...

Full of activity

Explanation:
This is a very commonly used phrase. In my opinion using the literal translation of "life" sounds a bit flat in English.

Example sentence(s):
  • "... many of the facilities, such as the shop, cafe and restaurant, will be open and FULL OF ACTIVITY seven days a week."
  • "Entering the building will be like slipping under the desert sand and arriving in a large hall FULL OF ACTIVITY (shops, information points, cafeterias. etc)..."
