English language (monolingual) [PRO]
Bus/Financial - Finance (general)
English term or phrase: cashier's check
Is there another expression for this in British English?
What I need is an expression to designate a check/cheque that is issued DIRECTLY by the bank (and, therefore, more worthy of trust for another bank to pay for it).
In case you speak Brazilian Portuguese, it's called "cheque administrativo".
Thanks in advance!

certified check

Explanation:
According to

http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=certified check

This means ***A check guaranteed by a bank to be covered by sufficient funds on deposit. ***

Though if in British English, it is spelled **cheque" instead of "check".
