Can anyone please help me?
I just got SDLX, it works fine. However, while I was trying to save some work, I got the message \'warning, i segement requires format painting\'. Not knowing what to do I sent an e-mail to sdlx and got a swift answer + documentation on the matter. But I still don\'t know what and how to do it. The documentation gives an example, I don\'t see what\'s wrong with it and why anything should be done. Next it shows what happens and finally the result. I don\'t see... I really like my SDLX, but format painting still puzzles me. What I try to do is leave all the codes as they are in the original (which is sometimes hard, if you have to do word inversions) and muck them up as little as possible.
If I make a mistake, I copy text and format from original and retype.
I know that my advice is nothing to write home about, but I thought I would share your query.

Otherwise, I like it a lot. Explore the concordance function, for example, it speeds up work considerably once you have a good memory in store.
I am saving up to buy Multitrans, which I have seen displayed and have appreciated (after spending two days aligning texts with Trados; by the way aligning with SDLX is much better than with Trados) and I am going to download Multitrans for a trial period.
If you discover other tricks with format painting, do share them.
Thanks and good luck.

Hi Jean,
What you\'ve done wrong may not be visible at once. It may be that your original text is Bold, for instance, but the translation is not. It happened to me and it took me a while to figure out how the format painting function works. a) Press the format-painting button on your menu (the little brush)FIRST
b) Go to your source text and highlight the word or the whole sentence (since you don\'t know in which part of the segment the problem is, it\'s better to highlight the whole sentence)
c) Then go to your translation and highlight the whole sentence.
d) Press ENTER on your keyboard to validate. The segment should become blue (I assume it was green before)
That should do the trick. Hope this helps

Hi Jean,
Try the following:
- Select \"Format Paint Mode\" from the menu \"Format Paint\" (or click on the little brush in the toolbar).
- Click on the \"Next Format\" button (the one with the arrow) to go to the first words that need formatting.
- Use the mouse to \"paint\" the words in the target segment that correspond to the painted (highlighted) words in the source segment.
